5 Things You Think the Night Before Your Kickstarter Launch
  1. This is going to be great.

  2. Is this going to be great?

  3. Yes, yes this is going to be great.

  4. OK.

  5. Great.

In truth, I have no idea how this Kickstarter thing is going to go. I’ve never made a book before. I’ve never launched a Kickstarter campaign. So the whole thing is just one gigantic experiment.

However I’ve already decided: no matter what happens, it’s going to be great.

I’ve tried my best to create work that I’m proud of and to share a story about that work in such a way that connects with people and (hopefully!) inspires them to support it. This took some time to make it all happen but it finally feels like it’s in a good place. It’s ready to share.

Of course, it could all fail. No one could buy it. Plus it’s a Kickstarter project; so it’s all or nothing. A possible outcome of all these months, love, and effort towards making this one thing happen could yield exactly that: nothing.

Another possible outcome: wonderful things beyond my wildest imaginings! I could find the people who are looking for exactly what I have to offer. Anything is possible!

So even if it doesn’t work out, well. It’s okay. I might have to go on long walks in nature for awhile.

Eventually though, I come around to accepting the notion that the best thing about failure is the discovery of what doesn’t work. Either no one wants what I have to offer or no one likes the way in which I’d presented said offer. Ideally, I’ll pick myself up after not too long of a time and then work to figure out what didn’t work. Reiterate, course-correct, change whatever needs to be changed — and then: I’ll try again.

But if it works, if there are people out there who connect what I have to offer… well that would just be stellar, wouldn’t it?!

Until tomorrow.
